Alicia Weissenbach is an analog and alternative process photographer based in Los Angeles, CA. She lives with and works alongside her long-term girlfriend, professional dancer Rebecca Betteridge, who frequently appears as the subject of Alicia's work.
Alicia's goal is to keep the fun and playful qualities of art and creativity at the forefront her practice. She's always reaching back to her childhood self for inspiration and even guidance on how to continue to create with wonder. How to constantly be asking "why not" of herself and her materials, and asking "what if" of every new process. This mindset really thrives when she's doing what she loves most; experimenting in the darkroom and at home through cutting and collaging negatives, Cyanotype printing, double exposures and more.
Much of her recent work is based in the fantastical, surrealist qualities of daydreams as she attempts to capture the joy she feels being with the woman she loves.
